The Social Macaques

Known for their intelligence and social behavior, the common macaques at the zoo live in a large, dynamic group. The troop leader, Max, is a strong and confident male who ensures order among the group. Visitors are often amused by the playful antics of the younger macaques, who swing from branches and chase each other around the enclosure.

Zookeepers pay close attention to their social dynamics, ensuring that every member of the troop has access to food and enrichment activities. One day, a young macaque named Milo fell ill, and the entire troop showed signs of concern. They stayed close to Milo, grooming him and offering him food. Thanks to the zookeepers’ quick action and care, Milo recovered, and the troop celebrated his return with energetic play and vocalizations.

The bond among the macaques is a reminder of the importance of family and community in the animal kingdom.
